2022 Wrap

It's a year wrap blog

Blog Post by Ayush - Published at 4/15/2023

What an amazing year 2022 was, there were so many things happening altogether, I've never wrapped up a year before in a blog, and this is my first time.

Well, it's the perfect time to wrap up 2022 and think about the achievements and progress that I did this year and also about the downfalls and failures that should be kept in my mind and learn from them and set goals for 2023

So let's begin and dive into what I did in 2022, after reading this wrap of your's blog too and before publishing it mention @WeMakeDevs and Kunal Kushwaha , they run weekly and monthly challenges and give awesome swags so do check it out.

Journey of Working in a Shop to Tech

We have an electronics shop in our town (@ChaurasiyaRadio ) and since childhood, I and my brothers are working as helping hands in the shop whenever we get time from our studies which is never a good idea but it's so common in family-owned businesses of a middle-class family.

The year started and I had no clue what I'm gonna do in my life, I was a student of B.Com studying at D K College, graduating in 2022. It was going the same till one of my friends who was doing B. Tech from LNCT Bhopal introduced me to programming and programming languages and I'll be honest here I didn't get a word from him at that time.

After a few months, in July of 2022 when he again came home and started telling me about his college and studies and also about programming but this time I was interested in it and started doing some coding on his laptop just for fun.

After a few days, I was surfing on youtube when I found some people telling about open source and its contribution, how it can help anyone and also about remote work culture.

Later on, I found it to be pretty amazing and built my interest in it.

I wanted to know how all these things operate and started coding just because of curiosity.

This is how it all started.

What did I learn in 2022?

Python was my first programming language and it took me more than a month just to understand the basics of it as I don't know to code.

While learning all the Data Structure concepts I knew that this is not the only important thing to do when you want to make it into tech

There are more important things to learn which will make me a good developer, DSA questions are just what companies ask when hiring as a test

But there are many more important things such as contributing to open-source projects, web development and many more.

I started learning HTML and CSS, the initial part of front-end development, it didn't take me much time to learn these and get familiar with them.

Only in 10 days, I built my confidence in it by practising HTML and CSS properties and making clones of some websites and taking challenges.

I also learned Tailwind CSS (CSS framework), many people may not like it but I found it pretty simple to use, just install node.js and run some npm commands in the terminal and you are good to go

It was not easy for me to understand all the git commands at once, it took me time to get familiar with it but after doing some contributions on GitHub, it feels good and I'm still learning every day about git and GitHub on GitHub by watching contributors all over the world which gives me a lot of motivation and confidence to learn more and contribute even more.

I know it will take some time but it will be worth it.

Now in the present time, January 2023, I'm learning Javascript, the basics concepts of it like variables, strings, functions, loops, event listeners, DOM manipulation already covered, stuck in callbacks, promises, async and await.

I'll cover these things and head towards learning React.js and making some good projects out of it.

I'll be also learning about Backend Development

Good things happened in 2022

  • Being from a non-tech background I discovered the world of programming
  • First time contributed to open source
  • Solved a good first issue
  • Knew about Remote Work Culture
  • Also knew about FAANGM India that it's not everything to look for
  • Joined the tech community
  • Got to know so many great contributors on Twitter and LinkedIn

I think in every field good connections with great people with global exposure are a blessing.

Also made some connections with computer science students from IIT.

Learned so many skills about tech

Taking care of my family business and my family and health too.

The bad things about 2022

Our house was so old that this monsoon made it almost ruins so we have to rebuild it in 2022. It took one year to make it but we are back in our home now.

My laptop started showing symptoms of being old, I bought it in 2012, and it served me a lot but I think at any moment it can leave me.

I don't want to loose it till I get a job

Aim for 2023

  • The first thing I want to do is to completely understand the intermediate concepts of Javascript and then React.js
  • Make some good projects
  • Get an internship
  • Start doing Backend Development
  • Get a remote job in 2023
  • Buy myself a new machine to work on
  • Give back to my parents and family
  • Give back to the community
  • Become more kind and polite to everyone

2023 is already amazing

This was my wrap of 2022, 2023 already started, I'm on learning in public mode.

I'm ready for new challenges and excited for the new journey.

I hope you all are excited and motivated too, do let me know in the comments

Thank you, everyone.
